A 1980s house opened up for three generations, keeping the original narra stair.

Three generations share this house, and the plan had grown by accident over forty years. The family wanted to keep the original narra staircase and little else of the layout.

We opened the ground floor into one long living and dining space, gave the grandparents a bedroom and bath downstairs, and cleaned up the stair with a lighter handrail and a linen runner.
